Minnesota South Area Al‑Anon Meetings

“Open” meetings allow attendance by people who are not families and friends of alcoholics but who are interested in learning about Al‑Anon Family Groups (AFG). People who may come to open meetings occasionally include students and professionals who work with alcoholics and their families.

“Closed” meetings are for members and prospective members whose lives are affected by someone else’s drinking. Groups that register a meeting as “closed”” may decide to hold an occasional “open” meeting in order to reach out to professionals and others interested in Al‑Anon.

NOTE: “Closed” does not mean the meeting is limited to those who are already members of Al‑Anon, only that it is not for those who want to learn about Al‑Anon but whose lives have not been adversely affected by alcoholism. If you think it might benefit you, you are welcome at any closed meeting.

All Al‑Anon meetings listed on this site are closed meetings unless otherwise indicated. In accordance with Minnesota law, Al‑Anon meetings are smoke free.

For the safety of their members, all Alateen meetings are closed meetings. Only Alateens, prospective Alateens between the ages of 7 and 19, and Area-certified Alateen sponsors may attend. An Alateen meeting may have an occasional open meeting in which case anyone may attend.
